Poornima Sharma was born into a Sikh family in Punjab but spent most of her formative years in Delhi. She pursued her college education in Delhi as well and eventually got married there. However, she felt the urge to explore beyond her familiar surroundings and ended up moving to Japan, where she has been living for the past 35 years. Her husband runs a business, and they have two sons who are now grown and pursuing their careers — one as a pilot and the other as an engineer in a Japanese company.

Mrs. Sharma is deeply committed to promoting the Hindi language and has been instrumental in bringing out a Hindi magazine in Japan since 2014, which has gained popularity both in Japan and overseas. She has authored five books, including “Meri Aa Chuchi Hai,” “Atap Jivanam,” “Mujhate Phool,” “Dehri Par Lamp Bahete Pani Saath Bahana,” and “Dil Ki Baat Thi.” She has also edited four books, namely “Apne Apne Dharti,” “Apne Apne Aasman,” “Apne Apne Sapne,” and the newly published “Gunj Uthi Hindi.” Additionally, she has contributed to the publication of 30 edited books in total.

Mrs. Poornima Sharma’s life is a testament to her unwavering commitment to promoting the Hindi language and culture. Her dedication and hard work have helped spread the echoes of Hindi far and wide, and she continues to inspire many with her work.
